Welcome to Year 7

As Head of Year 7, it is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School!

We are thrilled that you will be joining us and cannot wait for you to discover everything SHFGS has to offer. Whether your passion lies in sport, performing arts, STEM, or beyond, there truly is something for everyone. As 'the grammar school of today' we are committed to inspiring you with opportunities that help you thrive both in and outside of the classroom.

At Sir Henry Floyd, you will become part of a vibrant and diverse community. Our Floydian Scholar values, Resilience, Reciprocity, Resourcefulness, Reflection and Respect, guide everything we do. These principles empower you to grow in confidence, support one another, and strive for excellence while contributing positively to our community.

We have lots of support ready for you:

  • Form Tutors: Your main go-to person throughout your time here.
  • Buddies: Older students who will help you settle in during your first weeks.
  • Support Teams: Our Raising Achievement Team and specialist non-teaching staff are always here to help with any questions or worries you might have.

Before you start, our Parent & Student Handbook has all the information you will need.

We cannot wait to meet you and begin this exciting journey together. Your time at Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School promises to be happy, successful and full of opportunity, and it all starts now!

Resources to Support Transition

Moving from primary to secondary school is a significant milestone that often brings a mix of excitement and apprehension for students and their families. It's completely normal for this transition to cause some anxiety as students adjust to a new environment, new routines, and new academic challenges. We understand these feelings and have put together useful resources and support to help make the move to Year 7 at SHFGS as smooth and positive as possible.
